Message to Mel Knight

A colleague was relating to me words he had given to Mel Knight, Minister of Energy.

Mel, you've done well by the oil patch. You've made a lot of money from it.

Enough to buy not one, but TWO silver Rolls Royces! Heck, one of them even belonged to the Queen! Imagine sitting on the fine English leather that hauled the royal fanny about London Town!

Yeah, life's been good to you Bill.

As a worker in the oil industry who hasn't enjoyed the financial success that you have, may I ask a favour?

Can I get a chance too? Or are you going to stand by and let your caucus colleagues put us little guys out of business?

We'd appreciate the same opportunities that you've had. Wouldn't you think that would be kinda "Fair"?

Now I don't know where you stand on this issue, your public statements have been rather silent on the Royalty Review panel's report.

If you are pushing back against them, good on you! Push damned hard and win. Because if these recommendations go through the PC Party in Alberta will get wiped out.

If you can't get them to budge, please consider stepping out of the PC caucus and getting ready for the next election without them. Alberta has a history of decimating tired old governments with new and incompetent leaders and replacing them with a fresh party that came out of nowhere.

It will happen again should the recommendations of the review be implemented in any significant way.

Oh, and one last thing. Do you have any Grey Poupon?
