Is 15 People A Crowd?

Well this got me rolling on the floor laughing my ass off!

Small crowd shows up for labour-sponsored rally on royalties

Oct, 19 2007 - 4:20 AM

ALBERTA - A tiny crowd of 15 people came out in Fort McMurray for a labour-sponsored rally calling on the government to hike royalties to oil and gas companies.

Barry Salmon of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers said the small turnout Thursday night was expected because it was payday in the oilsands city. But he said organizers felt they had to proceed with the rally because they believe Premier Ed Stelmach will soon announce his decision on what to do about a government-appointed royalty review panel's recommendations that the rates go up by as much as 20 per cent.

Gil McGowan of the Alberta Federation of Labour said oil companies which are threatening to leave the province if royalty rates are increased simply won't do so.

McGowan said the reason is simple - the oil is in Alberta, meaning this is where the money is to be made. (cp, jk)
